I previously ran two weekly psychotherapy groups, one for both men and women, and one for women only. Both met at Birmingham Counselling Psychotherapy Centre.
Group therapy can be a powerful therapeutic approach. My weekly groups provide a safe yet challenging environment for healing, increasing your awareness and enhancing your experience of life, by exploring who and how you are in the world.
Group therapy gives an opportunity for support and feedback from other group members as well as from the therapist. It acts as a microcosm of the wider world, enabling you to gain awareness of how you behave and are received in social situations, and experiment with new ways of interacting. Group therapy has the added benefit that you can learn as much from other peoples’ struggles and learning as from your own therapy work.
The size limit of each group is 8 people, plus myself. This way they are small enough to feel safe, yet big enough to provide diverse feedback and support from a variety of people.
I am currently taking a break from running groups as I move my practice to Wales.
