The art of Judith Bruton fits within a long-standing Fleurieu tradition of poetic interpretation of the landscape. The difference between Bruton’s approach and that of picturesque landscape art of the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries is that Bruton introduces further layers of possible meanings by breaking down her source material into component parts and synthesising them to create complex but controlled collections of images ~ John Neylon
