Resources for First Years

Many economics graduate programs have "wikis" and other resources to help their current first years. When I was a first year, the only resources available were a few not-always-accessible binders floating around with helpful materials (most of which are now part of this collection). In the summer after finishing the comprehensive exams, I compiled a collection of resources to help future first years, including comp solutions and lecture notes from first year courses from 2008-2009. The comp solutions are not official solutions. They include work previous first years, including myself, did preparing for comps, ranging in time from a few years before my time to a few years after. Many questions include multiple versions of the same question in various states of completeness and correctness. In some instances, things known to be incorrect are marked as such, but not in all cases. They are all provided "as-is" in the belief that seeing others' missteps, as well as their successes, can be helpful in learning the material. On behalf of myself and the other contributors, good luck.

On May 22, 2014, UT shut down WebSpace, the location where these files were stored. As I am no longer a UT student and no longer have access to UTEID-protected storage, at some point a long-term solution for storing these files needs to be found. Until then, for students who come here looking for materials to help prepare for comps this year, send me an email from your @utexas.edu email address and I can email you a zip file.
