Rocky Oaks National Park
Rocky Oaks National Park
Los Angeles County, Southern California
Santa Monica Mountains
Nature and Wildlife Refuge
Santa Monica Mountains are unique and are in a constant state of change. Human social systems influence Santa Monica National Parks’ natural systems. In the Woolsey fire, the fire played a complex role in Southern California’s Mediterranean ecosystem affecting the survival and preservation of the plants, animals, and humans within the ecosystem. By broadening awareness and familiarity with the local ecosystems and understanding why and how fires occur in Southern California, stakeholders can determine how human activities affect how quickly an ecosystem recovers after a fire. Some of the most popular activities to do in the park are:
School Field Trips & Wildlife Studies
Hiking (including the famous Backbone Trail)
Mountain Biking
Horseback Riding
Climbing
Camping
Wildflower Viewing
Special Programs and Events
