Investigation and Experimentation
7.7a "Select and use appropriate tools and technology...to perform tests, collect data, and display data."
Scientists use scientific tools to perform tests, experiments and as a way to collect information. They use the International System of Metric Units when performing tests and experiments. In life science class students will use basic tools of scientists.
Students will learn how to use and use:
microscopes, slides and cover slips to observe small organisms,
balances to measure mass of objects,
graduated cylinders & beakers to measure volume,
micro-viewers to observe organisms on fixed slides,
metric rulers and meter sticks to measure length,
computers to access gizmos,
binoculars to observe birds,
petri dishes to grow live specimens,
anemometer to measure wind speed,
psychrometer to measure relative humidity,
spring scales to measure mass, and
thermometers to measure temperature.
