Group Statement Policy

In graduate school, I was asked to sign a petition. While I agreed with the overall sentiment, there were parts of the petition with which I disagreed.  After spending several days thinking about my decision, I ultimately decided not to sign the petition.  In order to minimize decision-making costs in the future, I adopted a constitutional rule that I do not sign "open letters," "petitions," or any group statement where I did not draft the text.  Thank you for your understanding.
