Service to Olin

Working at Olin provides me with a wide array of ways to contribute to the growth and success of the college. Towards this end, I have served on several committees, including as Chair of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Chair of the Academic Life Committee, and as Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) overseeing human subjects research (in this role I also served as a scientific member of the IRB at Brandeis University).

In the past I have also regularly led a Co-Curricular Offering called "Reading and Seeing Theater." During this semester-long, non-degree-credit course my students and I read a series of scripts and attended performances of them. We met regularly to discuss the textual elements of the script and the production elements of the shows. In the Fall of 2011, I directed an interactive production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town," featuring Olin students, faculty, staff, and family members. In the Fall of 2014, I directed a production of Susan Glaspell's "Suppressed Desires" as part of the Provincetown Four festival at Babson College. And in Spring 2017, I co-directed a series of monologues authored by Olin and Babson students called "Storying Our Selves." I have also co-run a Co-Curricular called "Olin Story Slams," with my colleague at Olin, Gillian Epstein. We have helped students write personal stories and share them at a series of live story slam events.
