Johnston Tree Consultancy was established by Sarah Johnston B.Sc. (Hons.) Arboriculture. She is a professional member of the Arboricultural Association. Sarah has a background in the Arboricultural industry that draws from a wide range of experiences both in urban and rural settings. From being a qualified tree surgeon and chainsaw handler through local authority work and experience working for a private sector company before creating Johnston Tree Consultancy.Her interest in trees in city and forest environments comes from time spent in America as a teenager. She has undertaken various courses including both Forestry NVQ II and Arboriculture NCH, chainsaw training, hedge laying as well as production of woodland products such as hurdles, and advising on woodland burial sites. This experience has given her an excellent insight into the practical side of her chosen field.
After gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Arboriculture Sarah worked as a Tree Officer at Havant Borough Council dealing with all aspects of trees; development, tree preservation issues, matters of legislation, tree health and planting schemes.
In addition her work brought her into contact with a broad range of professionals including Architects, Conservation Officers, Environmentalists, Planning Officers, Councillors as well as the public. Sarah then moved into the private sector working for Marishal Thompson, specialists in the assessment of tree related subsidence. She liaised with structural engineers, soil and root analysts. In this role Sarah also gained unique experience in the provision of Mortgage Reports for home buyers.
To maximise on-site efficiency and reduce client expenses JTC uses the latest site data capture terminals, including our own bespoke 'ARBiter' GPS surveying software which relays site data directly to our office systems.
JTC now has a wide range of clients including Parish Councils, Housing Associations, Planning Consultants, Structural Engineers, Estate Agents and Architects, as well as members of the public.
JTC's broad experience in the industry provides insights into resolving the conflicts between trees and the built environment, adding to the amenity that trees bring to our daily lives.
