Pilates for Prostate Cancer Wellness
Pilates
There's more to Pilates than developing "strong abs" or "core strength" it is an exercise system that focuses on stretching and strengthening the whole body to improve balance, muscle-strength, flexibility and posture. Pilates can help improve posture, muscle tone and flexibility, core strength and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.
Pilates is suitable for people of all ages and I have clients who are in their 80's. “It’s never too late to start,”
I work to create a programme of exercises tailored to what you need and can do. With older people, I tend to work on balance, posture, co-ordination and breathing. I offer more gentle exercises to work on their weaknesses and improve their mobility.
Pilates can be adapted to raise the fitness levels of someone less active, and it can challenge someone very fit. Before starting any exercise programme it’s advisable to seek advice from your GP or a health professional if you have any health concerns, such as a health condition or an injury.

What to Wear
It is important that you are comfortable. So you don’t want to wear something that is too tight and restrictive, or something that is too baggy and gets in the way. Most ladies wear leggings and t shirts and the men generally wear jogging bottoms and t-shirts. No loose shorts. Bare feet or grippy socks for your feet.
