Donations and Sponsorship

Donations are needed to support students with hands on work experience. Please contact us to work out time and scheduling.

Automobile Donations

Students need hands on learning on vehicles prior to working on live vehicles. In class, we want them to learn and make mistakes on donated vehicles prior to entering the workforce.

Procedure:

Contact Miles Tokheim

Make sure title is clear. It may not have a lien listed on the title

Clear up all parking tickets and other violations.

Clean vehicle of personal belongings and collect all keys for the vehicle

Set up time to bring vehicle to the Memorial High School at 201 South Gammon Road

Meet with Miles to complete donation paperwork and get a copy for your records. This takes about 15 minutes

A few weeks later, you will receive a formal letter from the school district for tax purposes

Once a vehicle is donated to the school it will not be resold. Donated vehicles are used as a work station, allowing students to perform various lab activities. Students will perform jobs ranging from tire changing, oil changing, and other maintenance items in beginning courses, up to brake and suspension work in our advanced courses. After it has been through several semesters the engine and transmission will be removed and students will tear down the parts to see how everything operates. After this when the vehicle has been gone over completely it will be delivered to the recycling facility to be used again.

When donors donate to a public school they can write the donation off on their taxes. A person does need to itemize their taxes and not take the standard deduction. Once the vehicle is donated the donee will receive a confirmation letter from the district and the IRS documentation follows. Vehicles that are donated to the school are not resold and therefore can have fair market value appraisal. When vehicles are donated the fair market value of the vehicle is used for this purpose.
