Construction and Woodworking 1

TEC 5025 ½ Credit Elective 9, 10, 11, 12



This introductory course puts students directly into the world of construction and woodworking.  Students will be hands-on with hand tools, power tools and basic machinery while learning the basics of construction, woodworking and safety.  Throughout the course students will have the opportunity to explore and learn what it takes to have a successful career in a construction related field.  From basic measurement and layout, students will build their skills with hammers, drills, and saws throughout the semester.  Students will also learn the basics of woodworking machinery safety and develop an understanding of how wood projects come alive.
