Telling Stories and Communicating through Images & Video
At STEM camp this summer we will be creating Videos about:
1. The Science of Bubbles
2. Classes you can take at STEM camp
Each student will learn the basics of creating a Documentary type of Video
Each student will plan out their story of camp
Create Story Boards
Draw out the Scenes
Write the Narrations
Design Transitions
Create Titles
Give Credits
We will use what is called Stop-Motion, which combines:
Pictures
Titles & Descriptions
Sound & Music
Voice Narration
Creating Video is broken into three major steps
Pre-Production: Planning the project, Write the Story, Video Outline & Story
Production: Taking Pictures & Video, Filming Story Lines & Collecting sounds, working with lighting
Post-Production: Putting the Pictures & Video into the StoryLine and adding effects, sounds, titles & credits
Types of Video:
documentary - tells the story of what happened or is in the process of happening
corporate/educational - tells the story of a company, product or education
commercial - sells a product
narrative - tells the story from 1 or more people's viewpoint
There are many software packages that can help you create a YouTube video:
1. Stop-Motion Video - Take pictures and put them in a Presentation or Slide Show
2. Phone, Tablet or computer video - Use a tool on your Phone, Tablet or Computer to take movies
ex. Windows Movie Maker, Mac Movie Maker or Chrome/Google's YouTube
3. Chrome Slides or PowerPoint
4. On-Line software like: VoCaRoo is what the WRCC and Brattleboro Tech students use http://vocaroo.com
Our Hardware:
Chrome Books - we will use these for taking pictures, recording voice, creating slide shows, uploading moves to YouTube.
Cameras - we will use these for taking pictures
Tablets - we will use these for taking pictures and using the Zoom Lens
Personal Cameras & Phones - students will be able to use their own cameras & phones after they have created their story line.
