Some might be thinking, "Poetry with a purpose? What?" After teaching numerous poetry units to high school students, I wasn't sure how I felt about this thought-provoking form of communication, but as I became seasoned in the classroom, I want my students to see that their thoughts can have a purpose.
Part of my upbringing includes valuing homemade gifts. After all, no matter how many of that one item you make, there is something special about it when it is paired with the lucky recipient. Each of these poems were written for a specific person (or couple), framed, and given as a gift.
(This list is still under "construction," as I am attempting to retrieve all of them from various saved files.)
