Henry Hansen Story
ODE TO HANK HANSEN
Let me tell you all a story 'bout a man named Hank.
For many, many things we have him to thank.
Henry was born on the fourth of July
And he's as American as good ole apple pie.
(Pie, that is, made by Maxine)
For the Lord, he has given so much time.
He's held many positions, all were mightily fine.
He's given so much service, to Heaven he will go.
When he calls for volunteers, you cannot say no.
(Remember the Coke Shack?)
He gathered up greenery for many Christmas wreaths.
He's done the sets for plays and skits, whatever was the need.
He built the pit, a bridge, some trees, a giant rainbow.
And for the luau, years ago, an active volcano!
(He never does things in a small way)
He likes the pretty girls and is a friend to all.
If you need some help, just give ole Hank a call.
He will drive his truck, use a tool or two.
He will always lend a hand when there's work to do.
(He always goes the extra mile)
He used to play softball with men both young and old.
As the fearless catcher he was brave and bold.
He likes to tell a story and play a joke or two.
And, with a twinkle in his eye, he'll laugh with you.
(On, the stories we could tell)
He has a wife, four children, and nine grandkids.
I'm sure you have your own tale 'bout just what he's did.
He holds a special place in all our hearts and in our Ward.
We now pay him this tribute and give thanks to the Lord.
(We love you, Hank!)
This was written by Rhonda Holman to be
performed on July 24, 1993 at the Ward
Party to honor Hank. He was much too
ill to attend, and in fact died on that day.
