Martial arts: makes you hit harder with your fists and feets
Contact reflexes: raises your protections
Defence sense: raises your avoidance
Ki: allows you to add persistent bonuses that lowers spmax when they are active
Powers and how much spmax they drain:
Power 20% (add a lot more damage to your martial arts)
Strength 20% (add a lot +str. With 88% ki you get like +21str)
Belt 0% (add elemental damage to your iron palm based on the belt on your monk statue)
Statue 0% (add elemental damage to your iron palm and allows you to gain special blast when hit on certain element spells based on gi on your monk statue)
Haste 45% (adds haste to your monk skills. Yes, offensive ones as well)
Healing 15% (+hpr)
Ki siphon 15% (+spr)
Elemental 15% (add elemental damage to your martial arts hits. You need to do monk ki-quest for that element. Available elements: air, fire, asphyx, cold)
Ki % also affects a lot on mind over body, and how much bonus you get with ki-bonus powers.
Mind over body: raises selected stats for 20-30 minutes (Ki affects on this skill)
cha, dex, str, con, wis, int, spr, hpr, epr, tick (in order of feat simpliness)
more stats you raise, more ep it requires (for example str, dex and con at the same time needs about 85eps)
Kata: gives bonuses to next skill you are using. Works very well with meditation and acupuncture.
Meditation: regeneration skill like camping. Works a lot better when done at monk tree.
Kiai-cry: start offensive skill that works sometimes. Activates sometimes pattern weave.
Pattern weave: lowers enemy's defensive abilities for a short time (30s or so)
You need to strike enemies with Iron Palm till you get the notification to find more advanced skills to train. After this notification you can go to a special trainer to get new special skill.
Each trainer will ask you to do some small exercises before they give you the new skills, one new task before each skill. Most tasks require boring syntaxes and certain (see below) monk skills.
Once completed, you will get the skill to 50%, but note that these new skills does not require any exp, and can't be trained with it either.
Special skill's percentage raises as you use them, from 50% to 75% (which is the amount you need to raise it in order to get new skill) ratio is 1% per four (4) succesful hits. After that the rate reduces quite much. Criticals raise the skill by 1%.
After you have used skill enough to get it to 75% you have to go back to the trainer who gave you the skill and ask him about the training. This is valid for the 3rd skill as well.
One fast way to grind skill precentage up is to spam skills at "a small black orb" -targets in cities. If you are Monk-Animist you can also grind special skills from 50% to 75% by using special skills at your animist soul companion. Just grind and use the skill at your soul companion and heal the companion when needed. Roth trainer special skills won't work though because you can't hit yourself. :P
After you get the third skill from same trainer you need to strike enemies with Iron Palm -skill again till you get the notification to find more advanced skills. Amount of needed iron palm hits is 100 or something like that.
Some special skills give you +martial arts after you have grinded that special skill to 100%.
If you get the special skill to 100% you gain it to 75% after reincing back to monks and do not need to whack it from 50 to 75%. Rebirthing resets everything.
Each trainer will give you one 2 round, one 4 round and one 6 round skill. Skills from same trainer have same benefits and should be used together. Monk haste affects on 4 and 6 round skill lengths so it will make them go faster.
For example when you use all three skills of same type in a row, the duration of second and third skill will reduce and damage will go up. If succesful, the 2+4+6 round skills will go off in 2+2+2 when combined.
Furnachia trainer will teach you : Falling boulder strike, Earthquake kick and Avalanche slam. These skills are best against heavily armoured opponents. They are not that useful againts physical resistance mobs though.
Laenor trainer: Wave crest strike, Geyser force kick and Tsunami push. These are maybe interrupting skills. They DO NOT stun the enemy but I think they drop enemy's defence (avoidance).
Lucentium trainer: Falcon talon strike, Elder cobra kick and Lions teeth throw. Skills from this trainer increase your avoid for a few seconds.
Rothikgen: Hydra fang strike, Winged horse kick and Dragon tail sweep. These are area offensive skills, the amount of mobs they hit will rais when trained further. They hit only same name of mobs (for example you can't hit every kender in the room because they are not named the same).
Laenor: (what you do need: acupuncture, vital points - 50% should be enough) - What you get: wave crest strike, geyser force kick, tsunami push
1. skill = use acupuncture at kobold, fill bucket from pond, toss bucket on kobold, use acupuncture at kobold
2. skill = run up wall; stomp footprint
3. skill = strike statue; run up statue; push statue
Furn: (what skills do you need: meditation) - What you get: falling boulder strike, earthquake kick, avalanche slam
1. skill = use meditation (in the room where boulder is), strike boulder
2. skill = kick wall in rhythm (kick wall (not the skill) every 2 seconds for 10 times)
3. skill = take table, drop table
Roth: (what skills do you need: kata and ki) - What you get: hydra fang strike, winged horse kick, dragon tail sweep
1. skill = Go to room in west. Then: pull lever;strike orb in cage x (x = number of the cage from which the orb pops out). You'll figure the rest.
2. skill = Go to room in east. Then: jump; kick top of right cage; kick left side of right cage; kick right side of right cage; kick back of right cage; kick front of right cage
3. skill = Go to room in north. Then: stand on disc. Push cage many times to get speed and then kick pedestial.
Luce: (what skills do you need: controlled motion and punch) - What you get: falcon talon strike, elder cobra kick, lions teeth throw
1. skill = say now;use punch at pot;jump (controlled motion needs to work so you propably need to try this many times)
2. skill = wield urn in right hand, left hand; n; flip
3. skill = pull rope with feet; duck; jump; spin; pull rope with feet
Special combos do only little elemental damage despite their messages. I've tested this several times with 100% pr, 0% all elemental damage mob. Bonuses from monk quest statue might still give you elemental bonuses to special skills. Not sure though...

All quests are at the monk main area in Lucentium.
After finishing the first quest you gain access to the hall of monk statues. You can enter your own room by typing "find nickname" in the halls north from the room where's three monks.
Doing quests gives you options to get bonuses for your skills. For example elemental damage for your iron palm, resistance on elements and elemental damage for your martial arts.
Clean your statue room by getting broom and pail or bucket full of water and typing "clean room". Cleaning takes 15-30min and you can sometimes kill couple tiny spiders while doing it. Your statue room gets dusty after a while so you need to clean it again in next months.
You can enter others players statue rooms to check their bonus equipments. Don't forget to nod your head for approval or shake your head in disapproval!
Quests in order:
What you need: skulking, mind over body and punch -skills. Talk to "old and fragile monk" and then grab him. Walk the path up the hills and use skulking skill to go past bandits. Use mind over body when you're hungry. When you reach the top the old monk falls asleep so you have to wake him by punching him.
What you need: iron palm and fresh pants. Talk to monk again and go north. Punch pylon with a skill and then go right and then north into the statue halls. Use meditation. After this you have to fight nasty monster of your inner demons. This happens in three room arena so you can flee to regen but beware the demon regens quite fast so just keep hitting it with iron palm which is one round skill in this fight.
After the monster is dead use fresh pants at corpse and take the pants back to old monk.
What you need: joint lock (50%+), sewing. Talk to monk and go north and then right till you find a monk trainee in a yellow gi. Use joint lock at monk over and over again and when the monk flees follow him and joint lock him again and again. After succesfull 2mins you'll get a needle you need to bring to the old monk. After this he gives you the needle back and a bolt of cloth so that you can create a belt for him with a sewing skill.
After you have created a cloth belt give the belt to the old and fragile monk and he gives it back to you to take it to your statue in the halls of statues.
What you need: ki, first aid, acupuncture and leadership. Talk to monk again and go to the halls of statues and type: "find Heidel" to enter his statue room. There's a piece of rubble in the corner that you have to move and then use acupuncture at monk. After this you need to kick the door in and then use first aid on monk unconscious. The other monk is hysterical so first slap him and then lead him and go south. After two seconds the monk will follow you and leaves.
After this you can return back to the old monk who gives you two new KI-powers: healing and ki siphon.
What you need: sewing, controlled motion, iron palm, statue-belt with asphyxiation bonus. Your iron palm needs to do asphyxiation damage. Go to halls and find a door that used to be locked. Now it's open and you can enter a room with three runed cold shields floating. The room is "no offensive skills" -room so you need to let your controlled motion do the fun and hit those shields with iron palm. On next room there's Juxtos that gives you bolt of cloth and orders you to make a robe.
After you've made the robe give it to Juxtos that turns it into a gi that you can take to your statue and gain your first gi-bonus
What you need: sculpting, light steps, pattern weave, kick and maybe controlled motion. The monk gives you task to create a sculpture. First you need to get to the peak of the mountain so go north on punch the pylon to teleport to the top. Then you need to go south and get yourself a bit lower till you are seeing the ledge the monk mentioned you before. Jump to the legde. After this the path is fragile so you need to get your steps lighter. After you've run the path to the end (only one exit to northeast) you need to use pattern weave at aggressive goat before it knocks you down. Controlled motion helps with this because you can always run back southwest from the room that the goat is at. If the goat knocks you down you must run back through the same route. After you've got through goat there's an empty room and after that there's a room with some boulders monk mentioned you before but beware there's a aggressive harpy too. Get the boulders fast from the ground and the harpy starts carrying you around in it's claws. Now you need to be aggressive and kick yourself out of harpy's claws but wait till the right moment or you will drop from high spot and get killed instantly. After this you can sculpt the statue for the monk. You should have a got a note in your pocket that contains the right specifications.
After you have created the statue take it to the old fart monk and you can have a statue in your monk hall.
What you need: a party or help from one or two players. This time the monk gives you a task to plant your own apple tree. First you must get an apple from wilderness or from grocery store (Lorenchia's farmer's shop -apples dont match!). Apples can be picked only on autumn so you propably need to wait till then. It sucks that monks do not know any plants (plant lore is not trainable) so you need help from another player that has plant lore at least 20%. After you have found the apple you can choose your own spot in wilderness where you want to plant your own tree. Just look a spot (needs to be forest) and plant your apple. Beware! After planting the tree you need to protect the stem from bear that comes to poke around. The bear can be quite big to solo (mine was a black bear, snorting and digging, 64266 exp) so get some people to help you unless you're are lean mean killing machine.
After defeating the bear return back to the old monk and talk to him. Now you get new ki-power: haste that makes your monk skills go faster (does not apply on others).
What you need: a party or mad skills. Now you can pick elemental from four different choises (water, fire, earth, air).
Amount of exp needed in one hour:
element: 320k
element: 500k
element: 680k
element: xxxk
This must be done solo but after that you need to kill mephit elemental lord that can be a pain in the ass because it is invisible and blasts you with spells that equal the element you chose for the quest and might cast mirror image constantly. There will spawn lesser mephits few times (they are not aggro at first). You should kill those mephits right after they spawn because they can be pain in the ass when killing the boss one.
After defeating the mephit lord you will get your chosen element as ki-power. The mephit lord is tough so get yourself a healer or a party. Yes you can do the mephit lord part in a party and get the quest. You also get bonus stuff for your kata. The best way to do this quest is on Christmas when there's double exp or getting an exp boost apple from your monk apple tree or something else that boosts exprate.
19942: a sneaky fire mephit, annoying Jaqiwar
13803: a clever fire mephit, annoying Jaqiwar
32000: a burly fire mephit, annoying Jaqiwar
57961: a fire mephit lord, furious at Jaqiwar
After you have done 7th ki-quest you can go and meditate by your monktree. Remember to do this every day. You get unknown monktree-reputation and quests time to time. First quest takes some time (couple weeks or so in real time) to pop in. After that the quests come and go depending your meditation times by your tree. You can have several monk-staffs (tree quest bonus item) if you reinc back to monks some other time and raise a new tree (tree will be destroyed every time you reinc).

Monk appletree reputation is divided into two parts, Age and Might
Tree age:
Tree age progresses without any active input from player.
Reputation measured in years since planted. looking at own tree shows year when planted. with plant lore you can also see age of other appletrees
Tree grows once per batmud season. Season lasts 6 rl days. 1 year/4 seasons.
You get apples when tree is 5 bat years old so 3-4rl months
Tree reputations reset on reinc. Current estimate for fully grown tree is 2 rl year.
Tree age rewards:
apples - first apple gives full youth. first self picked apple from own tree per season also gives +2-3d exprate buff.
Currently no known effect or use to tree age after getting apples, beside the same exprate apple each bat year.
Tree might:
You gain tree might by meditating at your apple tree
Tree becomes saturated with ki energy after x amount of mediations, supposedly daily cap for meditation rep. Rep cap seems to increase over time.
Measured in comparison to other monk appletrees, messages including:
Your tree seems a lot weaker than the other trees, but you like it the best anyway.
Your tree seems weaker than the average tree, but you like it the best anyway.
Your tree seems quite average, but you like it the best anyway.
Your tree seems somewhat above the average, making yourself feel certain proudness.
Your tree seems quite powerful, and you take great pride of it.
Your tree seems to be the pinnacle of trees, the number uno, the best there is, which makes you immensely proud
Only direct way to measure reputation is counting amount of meditations.
1st monktree quest:
On your first quest you need to defend your growing treesapling from being destroyed by evil hares. You need to defend the tree for 10mins. Hares pop randomly and they are between 3 to 15k in exp. Last one is a boss that is about 25k or so.
While meditating, you notice some hare droppings suspiciously close to the tree. Hares are natural born tree killers, that much you do know. This can only mean trouble is on its way.
Brace yourself! Something wicked this way comes! In two wee.. minutes! (Remember, you can stop meditation with 'stop'
Success! You have prevailed against the bark-eating hares. The slight damage will heal over time, and the tree is safe, for now...
2nd monktree quest:
This time you have to defend your tree against evil orc lumberjack.
You hear a faint 'TIMBERRR!' shout from nearby, and whoever it is, it's coming closer. You have 2 minutes.
Defend the tree for 20 minutes. If the lumberjack is alive after that time, you've failed. If armageddon arrives, you've failed. Good luck! Orcish lumberjack arrives, with mischief on his mind.
Orcish lumberjack is DEAD, R.I.P.
an orcish lumberjack, 63077 exp
Success! You have prevailed against the orcish lumberjack, and the tree is safe, for now...
3rd monktree quest:
Marcus channeller + golem. blasts channublasts so stunner is helpful. can target channeller instead of the golem but golem leaves if channeller dies first
You hear some spellcasting from the nearby woods... The words used were something resembling 'enfuegome delterra'.
20min time limit
4th monktree quest:
Kill the Red dragon which is about 290k.
30min timelimit. Dragon casts dmp and special aoe fire dam and flees after certain damage intervals and need to hunt it down 3-4 times.
