About me

I am Professor of International Economics at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf. My research covers topics such as international trade, regional policy, digitalization and labour markets. It has been published in leading academic journals and was widely covered in the media. I am member of the scientific advisory board for the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs (BMWK) and have been a consultant to various (inter-)national institutions and political parties on important economic policy issues. The FAZ Ranking 2020 has placed me among the 5 most influential German economists.
