Hello friends,
This is my first post and today i would like to discuss about the most important and basic things that you will see not only in jkd but in any other form of martial art which is "Fighting Stance & Balance".
Q. What exactly do you mean by Fighting stance ?
A. It is simply how you portray when you are ready to fight someone.
I want this topic to be a little argumental so, i have added Balance to it. Whenever we talk about fighting stance the most important thing about a fighting stance is how it helps you to balance your body when you are engaged in a fight. There are many people who believe that fighting stance does play a very important role in any form or art but still there are others who say it doesn't make any difference whether you are positioned in a particular fashion. Most of jkd practitioners would often say that there are two stances one is a normal stance wherein you don't reveal to your opponent that you are going to be aggressive the next moment and would keep their attack a surprise and the second is where you come into a fighting position with one hand guarding your chin and the other at a distance.
Q. Now, which stance is the best one ?
A. Well this is something which i like the most that in jkd it does not matter what your stance is unless your body is in balance. Whenever you are engaged in a combat the best way to win is to always be in balance no matter what stance you use.
As jkd is a continually evolving martial concept and does not include any particular style, i would personally say to you that if you are a jkd practitioner try to blend in and make it your own. There are many people who tend to imitate someone who may be their role model which is not wrong at all but, if you want to benefit more from it then try exploring it from your own point of view. Try to create your own fighting stance as everybody is different and by this i mean everybody has their own likes and dislikes, a particular fighting stance means to restrict someone in the chair even if they are not comfortable sitting onto it. So inorder to know whats the best fighting stance for yourself try something which helps you maintain balance in whatever position you like to fight.
According to me a good fighting stance is where:
Well there are too many people who may have questions that how do you achieve a perfect body balance and a very simple answer to it is by keeping to your own centerline. I won't be elaborating much on how to's today as i have said earlier that i want this topic to be argumental. I want you to come up with answers and lets see what recipe we can cook.
