Hello friends, its been a while since the last post on basis of jkd concepts today let us discuss about one very interesting topic which you see above.
Now a lot of times good fighters tend to stumble upon this very thing is they don't respond very well to sudden attacks, not just good fighters but lets take for example a person who does lot of weight lifting, professional body builders etc. I would say that this is not a criticism to their profession but letme get to the scientific aspect of it.
Whenever you do a lot of weight lifting like a professional body builder or so.. our muscles tend to get very stiff. Now is this bad ?.. The answer is No.. its not bad at all but for a good martial artist or a fighter if he has studied his art very well this can be a piece of cake to take down a well built person. No matter both the persons are fit but, one is a body builder whose body is stiff thus most of the time his muscles will be stretched whereas the other person who is a martial arts practitioner is very much flexible so, when these two engage in a fight a punch or a kick given by a body builder will not cause serious damage to the martial artist since his muscles are in contracted condition and when they receive an attack they expand/stretch, now on the other hand for the body builder to take an attack on any part of his body the muscles are already in stretched condition which on receiving any attack will simply cause Internal Tissue Tear, which not only causes a lot of pain but this injury also takes a very long time to heal.
Coming to the conclusion of our very short example here, please do-not think that a person who is a bodybuilder can only be injured, as upon a dedicated practice of arts like yoga can anyone overcome this barrier.
Now lets get back to our topic of discussion which is how to develop a good response incase of a sudden attack ?
Well, no art in this world can be mastered without having a good practice over the same. This is something you must understand only then can you proceed further. A cup which is already full cannot be filled, and that is how even a human body functions, so you must first learn any particular art which you feel is comfortable after which you must practice it continuously in order to master it. Q. So does is mean that once you have mastered the art you are ready for sudden attacks ?..The answer to this is still No.. Since, even if you have practiced your art a thousands of time just practicing is useless untill you start visualizing the situation for which you are training your mind and body.
So, what you need to do is along with a dedicated practice of your art you also need to visualize particular fighting situations and train your mind and body to react for those particular sudden attacks. Now here im only going to discuss about street fighting situations and not some tournament.
When can we expect sudden attacks, generally, sudden attacks by their name are unpredictable but you can judge a person by the way he displays his skills, which can be specific as in if the person has already thrown a few kicks or punches may be missed but you can judge whether this person can pull any sudden attacks on you, so you prepare your mind in this way. Once your mind is prepared then you know what strategy you need to use to take out this person for good.
Finally concluding our todays topic, i would say that even good fighter tend to get beaten up pretty bad in real fight situations which is mainly because they don't visualize how to fight the opponent and they fail to establish a proper strategy, planning is the key to winning any fight but this can only be done if you can think what the opponents next move will be. So start "VISUALIZING". There are contradictions even to this saying of mine but i would encourage you to enter into a good debate over the same. Please send me mails if you have any queries or concerns over my articles..
There is also a short announcement which i would like to make since its the end. Starting next month a very good friend of mine who is an expert martial artist is going to conduct free trials for individuals who are interested in learning self defense. They can take the benefit of learning advanced combat techniques and enroll for winter classes which are soon going to start after the trials, beginning this September.
