The St. Louis Hummers joined the International Women’s Professional Softball Association (“IWPSA”) in 1977 and played the last three years the league was in existence. The Hummers finished second in the league in 1977 but lost in the Round Robin playoffs for a chance to play in the World Series. In 1978 and 1979 they did win the playoffs and met the Connecticut Falcons in the World Series. The Hummers are led by the pitching of Margie Wright and Cindy Henderson and the hitting of Pat Guenzler, Nancy “Boomer” Nelson and Vicki Schneider. This is their story.
