1977 Hummers
1977 Hummers
The Hummers will be playing with a lot of heart this year but little else. True, they did draft Pat Guenzler, the league's leading hitter last year at .385, and pitcher Cindy Henderson, but the rest of the team is likely to consist of rookies and players cut from other teams. Watch for rookies Marge Wright and Nancy "Boomer" Nelson.
Needless to say, the pundits were wrong. The Hummers finished with a league record of 43 wins and 37 losses, second only to the 1976 World Champion Connecticut Falcons and Pat Guenzler once again led the league in hitting. Although the Hummers lost in the Round Robin playoffs, the 1977 season was a success for the newest entry into the league.
