TONYA ANDREON, Pitcher
Tonya, nicknamed “T.J.”, is a hurler from the western part of the U.S. She went to high school in Medford, Oregon, and attended college at Central Arizona College and the University of Arizona. She was signed to a 1977 Hummer contract by General Manager, George Jones, after playing on the runner-up team in the NCAA final. She was voted the Outstanding Female Athlete at Central All-Star at Arizona. During the 1976 season, she hit .452 and compiled a 16-1 record for her amateur team, Tucson for Soles.
NANCY FEDEA, 2nd Base
Nancy, the Hummer 2nd baseman this year, struck out only seven times in 222 at bats in 1978. The native of Allen Park, Michigan now teaches at Iberia high School and is a resident of Crocker, Missouri. Nancy had a .958 fielding average in 1978, playing in more games (93) than any other Hummer. Her main hobby is fishing and she is ranked in the top 10 in badminton in the U.S.A. for the past 8 years.
PAT GUENZLER, Outfield
Patti is like a coach’s dream come true. She can hit, run and play outstanding defense. She has been the league batting champ for three consecutive years, batting .387 in 1976, .387 in 1977 and .404 in 1978. Patti was also the league most valuable player in 1977. She is an all-around accomplished athlete. Her bowling average of 205 in 1976 was the third highest in the nation. During the winter, she is on the pro bowling circuit. As well, she plays touch football and soccer. She was a member of the winning state cup soccer team in Missouri in 1978. During the winter, Patti works at Trails West Bowling Alley.
CINDY HENDERSON, Pitcher
Cindy had a fine year in 1978 with a 21-8 record and a 1.74 ERA during the regular season. A resident of Crocker, Missouri, Cindy is currently a Physical Education teacher in Richland, Missouri. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. In her first season as a pro in 1976 with the Michigan Travelers, Cindy compiled a 19-15 record. Cindy enjoys fishing as a hobby. She was an outstanding basketball player in college and set several records. Drafted form Women’s Pro Basketball.
SUSIE HINER, 3RD Base
Defense is Susie Hiner’s forte. She plays a close-in third base with intimidating skill. Last year she fielded .942, committing only 14 errors in 76 ball games. Susie is a sixth and seventh grade Health and Physical Education instructor at Franklin Township Middle School in Indianapolis. Susie was picked as the Best Women Athlete at Franklin College in 1974. She is married to Charles T. Hiner and resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.
CAROLE MYERS, Catcher
Carole, a newcomer to the Hummers, was obtained from the Buffalo team to fill the catching position. The Smallett, Missouri native is looking forward to a great season with the St. Louis team. With the Michigan Travelers in 1976 she was an All Pro catcher and threw out 5 base runners in one game. Twenty-seven year old Carole is a Physical Education instructor and coach at Lebanon Missouri High School. Her hobbies include canoeing and motorcycling.
NANCY (BOOMER) NELSON, 1ST Base & DH
Nancy, who was nicknamed “Boomer” by General Manger George Jones for her ability to hit the long ball, is one of the most popular players with Hummer fans. She is very busy as a Physical Education instructor at Milwaukee Lutheran High School, coaching tennis, basketball and track. Nancy, as well as having a productive bat, had a .990 fielding average in 1978. Nancy’s hobbies are officiating, camping, bicycling and fishing. The 30 year old hit 6 home runs for the Hummers in 1978.
VICKI SCHNEIDER, Shortstop
Vicki, 23 years old, is starting her second year as the Hummers’ shortstop. A graduate of McCluer North High School and Meramec Community College, she is currently the St. Louis University softball coach. Vicki had a fine 1978 season, batting .304 and stealing 15 bases. This will be her 4th pro season; in 1976 she played for the Chicago Ravens. In 1977, with the Santa Ana Lionettes, Vicki hit .317 and struck out only 2 times in 303 at bats. When not playing softball, Vicki is an instructor at the Nautilus Physical Fitness Center.
CHARLENE SENNEWALD, Outfield
Charlene will be a regular in the Hummer outfield again in 1979. The former softball coach at Fort Zumwalt High School in St. Charles, “Charlie” is now attending the University of Minnesota for post graduate studies. She is a graduate of Ursuline Academy in St. Louis and the University of Missouri at Columbia. Carlene earned letters at Missouri in basketball, softball and field hockey. Her hobby is photography.
BETHEL STOUT, 1ST Base & DH
Bethel is one of the local favorites on the Hummer team. The 31 year old holds a Physical Education degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and is a Physical Education instructor and assistant softball coach at the University of Missouri. Stout hit .315 in a Hummer uniform last summer. Her amateur honors include Outstanding Defensive Player in the 1975 National Fastpitch Tourney. In 1976 she hit .365 in amateur competition. Bethel’s hobbies include camping and basketball.
LINDA WELLS, Manager-Catcher
Linda will take over the Manager spot on the Hummers this year. As a player, she has multiple skills – capable of playing both sides of the plate; pitching and catching. Linda got her start in both capacities with the Chicago Ravens in 1976. She is a full time coach at the University of Minnesota and instructs in both volleyball and softball for the Golden Gophers. Linda, age 26, played high school ball in Pacific Missouri, and was a fastpitch star for the St. Louis amateur team, the Kirkwood Chargers.
MARGIE WRIGHT, Pitcher
Margie, age 25, is currently a Physical Education Instructor and Volleyball Coach at Eastern Illinois University. Her hobbies consist of playing basketball and officiating sports. Margie’s pro records rank her as one of the top pitchers in the league. In 1977, when she was named Rookie of the Year, Margie won 24 & lost 10 with an ERA of 1.82 and made the All Star team. In 1978 Margie had another fine year, winning 19 games & losing 11 with an ERA of 2.05. She has also been used in the outfield and as a designated hitter.
DEBBIE ZOSS, Outfield
Debbie plays several positions with the Hummers. She can play second, short, catch or the outfield. Debbie is known as “The Z” by Hummer fans. She attended Metamora High in Illinois. Debbie is currently attending Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. The blonde outfield is 26 years old and one of the smallest in the league, but also one of the fastest and draws a lot of walks.
