International Writing Centers Association (IWCA): The International Writing Centers Association, a National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) affiliate founded in 1983, fosters the development of writing center directors, tutors, and staff by sponsoring meetings, publications, and other professional activities; by encouraging scholarship connected to writing center-related fields; and by providing an international forum for writing center concerns.
Colorado and Wyoming Writing Tutors Conference (CWWTC): The Colorado and Wyoming Writing Tutors Conference Association, 501(c)(3), is a recognized affiliate of the International Writing Centers Association (IWCA). CWWTC was formally established with the ratification of its first official constitution in 2006, though its founding members and institutions have been gathering to represent, promote, and protect writing center academic principles, ideas, standards, and practices since at least the year 2000.
East Central Writing Centers Association (ECWCA): The East Central Writing Centers Association (ECWCA) fosters communication, encourages scholarship and research, and promotes effective practices among colleagues in secondary, community college, and university writing centers. Additionally, ECWCA provides a forum for the discussion of diverse and inclusive interests. A member of the International Writing Centers Association (IWCA), the ECWCA includes members from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Michigan Writing Centers Association (MiWCA): The Michigan Writing Centers Association (MiWCA) holds one Ideas Exchange per year (for both faculty and tutors/consultants) on different campuses around the state; manages listservs; coordinates proposals for writing center sessions at state, regional, and national conferences and use those conferences for convening their own special interest group; support one another’s ongoing praxis-oriented research projects aimed at improving writing center practices; consults with one another as they develop and refine writing workshop support programs across the state of Michigan; provides mentoring for new writing center colleagues; and forms liaisons with regional, national, and international writing centers organizations.
Mid-Atlantic Writing Centers Association (MAWCA): Founded in 1988, MAWCA is a "regional affiliate" of the International Writing Centers Association. Our region comprises New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and the greater metro District of Columbia region, including Northern Virginia. MAWCA's mission is to provide networking and professional development opportunities to writing center professionals (both peer tutors and directors) through our annual spring conference and regional events and workshops.
Midwest Writing Centers Association (MWCA): As a regional nonprofit organization and an affiliate of the International Writing Centers Association, the Midwest Writing Centers Association (MWCA) encourages communication and collaboration among writing centers in the Midwestern region of the United States, which include Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Upper Michigan, and Wisconsin. Our mission is to assist writing centers in promoting clear and effective writing, offer support to those who are involved in writing center work, and encourage scholarly activities, such as primary/secondary research and presentations/publications of research results.
Northeast Writing Centers Association (NWCA): The Northeast Writing Centers Association (NEWCA) is a regional affiliate of the International Writing Centers Association (IWCA)–founded in 1983. Affirmed is its purpose of fostering communication among writing centers and providing a forum for concerns for faculty and peer supporters.
Northern California Writing Centers Association (NCWCA): The Northern California Writing Centers Association is a non-profit educational organization that provides support, encourages scholarship, and promotes community among writing center professionals. Our primary commitment is to serve colleges in Northern California —2-year, 4-year, public, and private— while inviting participation from colleagues nationally and internationally. We define writing-centers broadly, acknowledging the intersections of writing, reading, and academic support in the various institutional settings in which this work occurs.
Pacific Northwest Writing Centers Association (PNWCA): The purpose of the Pacific Northwest Writing Centers Association (PNWCA) is to further the theoretical, practical, and political interests of writing center professionals, and to encourage dialogue about writing and learning among students, faculty and staff. Membership includes writing center staff from Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon, Washington and the Yukon.
Rocky Mountain Writing Centers Association (RMWCA): The Rocky Mountain Writing Centers Association (RMWCA) is the regional chapter of the International Writing Centers Association for the states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. This regional network acts as a support and resource for administrators and tutors and gathers at the Rocky Mountain Writing Centers Conference to celebrate and learn from those who tutor writing.
South Central Writing Centers Association (SCWCA): SCWCA is an affiliate of the International Writing Centers Association and includes writing centers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Southeastern Writing Center Association (SWCA): The Southeastern Writing Center Association (SWCA) was founded in 1981 to advance literacy; to further the theoretical, practical, and political concerns of writing center professionals; and to serve as a forum for the writing concerns of students, faculty, staff, and writing professionals from both academic and nonacademic communities in the southeastern region of the United States. A member of the International Writing Centers Association (IWCA), an NCTE Assembly, the SWCA includes in its designated region North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Puerto Rico, and the American Virgin Islands.
Southern California Writing Centers Association (SoCal WCA): The Southern California Writing Centers Association (SoCalWCA) was created to further the theoretical, pedagogical, and political interests of writing center professionals in the region and to encourage dialogue about writing and learning. The Association is a affiliate organization of the International Writing Centers Association.
Middle East-North Africa Writing Center Alliance (MENAWCA): Founded in November 2007, the Middle East-North Africa Writing Center Alliance (MENAWCA) affirms it purpose to foster communication among writing centers and to provide a forum for concerns for writing centers in the region. Membership of the MENAWCA will include directors and staff of writing centers at universities, four- and two-year colleges, and elementary and secondary schools in the region, as well as those persons interested in writing center theories and applications.
Canadian Writing Centres Association (CWCA)/ L'Association Canadienne des Centres de Rédaction (ACCR): The Canadian Writing Centres Association / L’Association canadienne des centres de rédaction is an inclusive bilingual association whose members unite to share information, research, ideas, and best practices with members of all writing centres in colleges, universities, and institutes of learning of all sizes; our association represents writing centres—under any name—which embrace multiple structural models and functional philosophies.
La Red Latinoamericana de Centros y Programas de Escritura (RLCPCE): La Red Latinoamericana de Centros y Programas de Escritura, RLCPCE, es una asociación regional educativa, sin ánimo de lucro, miembro de la International Writing Centers Association IWCA. Fundada en 2014, cuenta con centros y programas de escritura de 10 países que buscan establecer una comunidad académica para brindar apoyo, favorecer la construcción del conocimiento y promover los vínculos entre los centros y programas de la región latinoamericana. La afiliación es gratuita, así que puede escribirnos en "Contacto" para vincular su programa de escritura.
European Writing Centers Association (EWCA): The mission of EWCA is to integrate universities in Europe into a framework for exchanging ideas and establishing an infrastructure for Writing Center goals, practice and scholarly research.
Global Society of Online Literacy Education (GSOLE): The Global Society of Online Literacy Educators (GSOLE) connects those who teach reading, alphabetic writing, and digital literacy in online educational settings. Dedicated to diversity, inclusivity, and access in literacy-based online education, GSOLE disseminates peer-reviewed research and information through its annual meeting, online conference, research support, educational and community-building webinars, website, online literacy certification programs, and two open-access online journals--Research in Online Literacy Education (ROLE) and the Online Literacy Open Resource (OLOR).
The Writing Center Journal (WCJ): The Writing Center Journal was launched in 1980 by Lil Brannon and Steven North and remains the primary research journal in the field of writing centers. WCJ is the official journal of the International Writing Centers Association, an Assembly of the National Council of Teachers of English. WCJ is published twice a year: fall/winter and spring/summer.
The Peer Review: The Peer Review is a fully online, open-access, multimodal scholarly journal that promotes the work of emerging writing center researchers. In particular, we target graduate/undergraduate/high school researchers. While we welcome Writing Center directors and administrators as co-authors, the journal’s overall purpose is to forward the work of new voices in the field.
WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship: Across five issues per year and through numerous online resources, WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship promotes exchanges on challenges in tutoring theory and methodology, handling ESL issues, directing a writing center, training tutors, designing and expanding centers, and using tutorial theory and pedagogy.
The Dangling Modifier: An international newsletter by and for peer tutors in writing and produced in association with the NCPTW.
Southern Discourse in the Center: A Journal of Multiliteracies and Innovation: Southern Discourse began as the newsletter of the Southeastern Writing Center Association. Christine Cozzens revived the Southern Discourse newsletter in the spring of 1998, and in 2001, the SWCA board decided to designate SDC as the "publication" of SWCA after it began to include research articles and in-depth works about writing center-related issues.
Research in Online Literacy Education: Research in Online Literacy Education (ROLE) is a peer-reviewed digital journal published by the Global Society of Online Literacy Educators. ROLE publishes original research and scholarship in literacy-based online education.
Online Literacies Open Resource: The Online Literacies Open Resource (OLOR) is one of two publication venues sponsored by the Global Society for Online Literacy Educators. The goal of the OLOR is to publish relatively brief and practical pedagogical strategies.
Praxis: A Writing Center Journal: Praxis: A Writing Center Journal has been published by the University Writing Center at the University of Texas at Austin since Fall 2003.
