Assessing Economic Feasibility of Service Value Networks

Commercial services provide a dynamic environment for innovation and entrepreneurship as new ways to deliver services become available. For instance, nowadays, new ways based on digital resources are available for delivering music, video and news. One of these ways is on-line delivery of services. To support the innovative online delivery of services, so-called Service Value Networks (SVN) can be composed, which are web of enterprises working together to meet a business goal (usually a customer need).

SVNs can provide a business-oriented blueprint focusing on the required services and the valuable resources being exchanged by enterprises. To ultimately operationalize such online delivery, however, a more detailed view is required. For instance, once required services and resources are known, we must define operational aspects such as the way the exchanges occur as well as technical aspects about the information and communication technology (ICT) services underneath.

In this research, we aim at providing sound model-driven techniques to assess the economic feasibility of SVNs. To achieve our goal, we plan to analyze at least three perspectives: business value, business process and ICT. Moreover, we foresee an integration process based on model-driven techniques and supported via software tools.
