- Born in San Francisco, California

- A Viet Nam era veteran of the USAF 1964 -1968.

- Martial arts background spans over 50 years, but before 1983 only informally studying judo/jiujitsu and Japanese karate (Shotokan) with friends. also engaged in scholastic and AAU wrestling.

- In 1984 was introduced to Kajukenbo Gaylord Method by now-Grand Master Bill Sills, who was Head Instructor under Sifu Pete Morales at Golden Dragon School of Karate in Newark, CA. Trained under Sr. Grand Master Morales since that time and received1st degree blackbelt in March, 1988. Served as Head Instructor and Chief Instructor at Golden Dragon School of Karate.

- Received formal Instructor Certification in Kajukenbo – Gaylord Method from the Kajukenbo Association of Amerca in April 1991.

- Promoted to Professor, 8^th degree in February 2015.

- Currently owns and operates Focus On Defense in Auburn, CA training students in self-defense and defensive handgun; serve Golden Dragon Ohana as spokesman for Sr. Grand Master Morales; work with GDO Grand Masters, Professors, Instructors and students to insure the health and continued viability of the Ohana.

- Life member of the Kajukenbo Association of American (KAA), Golden Dragon Ohana (GDO), Kajukenbo Ohana Association (KOA), and The Sifu Society, member of the International Association of Professional Martial Artists (IAPMA). .
