The President of the International Tai Chi Society is Master Edward Jardine of South Africa.

He teaches Yang style Tai Chi (Taiji), an ancient Chinese martial art for physical and mental health. Its way of practice is suitable for people of any age.

Master Jardine is also a 7th Dan in Yuishinkai and 7th Dan in Ryukyu Kobujutsu, both of which are forms of traditional Japanese martial arts. He was the first non-Japanese to be awarded the title of Shihan in both. He has been involved in the martial arts for more than 50 years.

The Society is the oldest running Tai Chi school in South Africa and has branches throughout the country as well as Mauritius, the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada and Greece.

In South Africa, students range in age from around 16 to over 80.

The spiritual head of the society is Grandmaster Duan Yu Chang who lived in Taiwan, and originally came from Hubei Province in the People's Republic of China. He was descended from a teaching lineage that can be traced back to the grandson of Yang Lu Chan, the founder of Yang style Tai Chi.
