SHM graphs
Objective: Study the motion of a simple harmonic oscillator and determine the spring constant using graphs of the motion
Equipment: spring, mass, motion sensor, USB link, stand, DataStudio
Configure the program to display linked graphs of position, velocity, and acceleration (sampling 20 Hz)
Use autoscale and smart cursor to identify the maximum amplitude, velocity, and acceleration and the period
Write an equation for the position versus time graph
Determine the spring constant
Print out the graphs and add energy graphs on top of the position and velocity graphs
