Grading
Grading will be based on the final exam as well as on the class grades.
The "Evaluación Continua" has three parts: class participation (10%+10%), and class exams (30%) - one for each part of the syllabus.
In the practice sessions (Clases reducidas) the tutor will solve the exercises of each problem set not marked with a star. Students are expected to solve all the exercises before the class. Some students will be randomly chosen to solve the exercises on the blackboard (10% of the final grade).
The class exams will last 1 hour and will test all the topics covered in class up to the date of the exam. These exams will have a similar structure and difficulty as the problem sets.
Attending the practice sessions is compulsory. If a student misses a significant number of practical sessions, he/she will get 0 as his/her final grade for the Evaluación Continua.
In the May exam (Convocatoria ordinaria), the final grade will be computed as the weighted average: 40% class grades (Evaluación Continua) and 60% final exam as long as the grade in the class grades is above 3.5. A necessary condition to sit in the final exam is to have a class grade of at least 3.5.
It will not be possible to submit additional exercises or homework as a way to pass the course.
