DIII SOLO/ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL 2026
INFORMATION
Dear Choral Directors!
I hope you all are doing well and are back into the full swing of all that it is you do this time of year! I wanted to send out information about solo/ensemble festival which is just around the corner. Please read through the information and for those that are new, feel free to email often to make sure that you and your students are prepared for this event!
Dates/Location
The NNU Fine Arts Department is hosting our solo/ensemble event again this year. We are located on Dewey Ave. across from the Brandt Center in the white building that says “Fine Arts”. Due to the size of our district and number of entries we host two days for this event.
Saturday, February 21 from 8:30am-4:30pm will be the State Solo and State Ensemble entries. As you fill out the google form with entries, make sure that you click the correct status of your entries as either state or non-state. For this event, your students will have two adjudicators and a 5-7 minute time slot (more if possible), to complete their song. In order to be considered to move onto the state event, you must pay close attention to the state requirements (https://www.idahomusiced.org/events/solo_ensemble.php) both the rules and the required list. Your student must also have an ORIGINAL book from which the song came from for the judges. NO COPIED MUSIC. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE EDITION, KEY AND PUBLISHER MATCH. If they do not, your student will be adjudicated but won’t move onto the State Solo Competition in May.
Monday, February 23 from 9am-12:00pm will be the Non-State Solo and Non-State Ensemble entries. For these entries, you are still asked to prepare art songs (no pop, jazz etc.) however, you have the freedom to choose from the many different sources that are out there. Please make sure that the students have an ORIGINAL BOOK for the judges to look at, again, NO COPIED MUSIC. For this event there is only one adjudicator.
Due Dates
Tuesday, February 10 All Entries are loaded into the Google FormSolo/Ensemble Entry Form
Friday, February 20 All mailed in payments have been received DIII Solo/Ensemble Festival Invoice 2026
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE SURE CHECKS ARE NOT SENT TO THE WRONG PLACE! MOST BOOKKEEPERS WILL PUT IN DIII AND IT POPULATES THE ADDRESS AND YOUR CHECK WILL BE SENT TO THE WRONG PERSON! MAKE SURE THE ADDRESS ON THE INVOICE IS THE ONE THEY SEND IT TO. Thank you!
Final Thoughts
As you can imagine with over 300 entries, it is almost impossible to take requests for times. You can send in your requests, but understand that we can’t always honor them. You can expect a draft sent by Friday, February 13. If there are errors or missing people, let us know immediately! Here is some contact information if you have any other questions:
Festival Manager: Ron Curtis. rdcurtis@nnu.edu
Festival Scheduler: Connie Hadlock ckhdlk@msn.com
***Remember that DIII gets two sets of quotas. Large School 4A-6A and Small School 1A-3A. Generally we send 3 from each category for state. Let’s make sure that our district is represented in both Large and Small school categories!
Thank you!
