SCHOLARSHIPS
The Illinois Division began offering scholarships in the areas of Forestry and Conservation in 1983. The program is open to any college student studying in those areas. Applicants do not need to be a member, but must live in Illinois and be sponsored by a member to apply. The program is funded in part with funds received for tree certificates. Since its inception over $90,000.00 has been awarded. The number and amount of the scholarships varies from year to year based on available funds, but is currently at two, $1000.00 scholarships each year.
In 2023, the Bill and Margarete Schmoldt Memorial Scholarships were added thanks to their generous $50,000.00 bequest. The program is set up to award two $2500.00 scholarships each year for a minimum of ten years. Requirements and guidelines are similar to the IL Division Forestry and Conservation scholarships.
