IWLA Action Alerts
as of August 2025 (updated)
Background: One of the League’s greatest strengths is its grassroots. Speaking up collectively we can influence policy makers and in turn environmental policy. Every voice counts and IWLA Action Alerts are our venue. Taking action supports our League staff in Washington.
Concept: Ask each Chapter appoint a Legislative Advocate who will support the League’s Action Alerts. Easy to do with minimal commitment of time.
Process:
1. Chapter advocate will sign up to receive all of the League’s Action Alerts.
Sign up at: https://iwla.org/advocate-for-conservation/make-your-voice-heard/
2. Advocate will respond to each alert by editing with these comments within the alert dialog box.
Add at the beginning of the alert’s message:
“I am writing on behalf of the XXXX chapter asking for your support. We are a common-sense conservation group of over XX members throughout the area.”
Add at the end of the alert’s message:
“XXXXX chapter thank you for your past support of conservation and look forward to working with you.”
Note: feel free edit if appropriate.
3. Next step, forward Action Alert email to all chapter officers asking they, as individuals respond.
4. If ask be willing to call or email Federal legislators on behalf of chapter.
