Rules

The IISc Race of Truth is an individual time trial bicycle race. Each racer is timed for a fixed distance. The racer to complete the fixed distance in the minimum amount of time wins.

Eligibility

Only students, alumni, faculty, staff of IISc and their spouses and children, PAs and RAs are eligible to participate in the IISc Race of Truth.

Categories

There are four racer categories: Men (age >= 18), Women (age >= 18), Junior Boys (age < 18), Junior Girls (age < 18)

In addition, there are two bicycle categories for each of the above: Single-speed (Non-geared) cycles, and Multi-speed (Geared) cycles.

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest in each of the above categories.

Safety

    1. Motorized traffic will be closed for the duration of the race. However there may be unavoidable traffic on the course. So pay attention to the course, do not ride with your head down.

    2. Use of a bicycle helmet is strongly recommended.

    3. Follow all traffic rules on the course.

    4. Take care on the sharp corners.

    5. Medical assistance is available if necessary, enquire for details at the registration desk on race day.

    6. Reach to the nearest volunteer for any help.

Race Rules

    1. Non-human powered vehicles are not allowed.

    2. Each rider must line up at the starting line in order of start, as intimated by race organizers.

    3. Warm up on the course is not allowed after the race starts.

    4. The race uses an interval start: each rider will be released to race one minute after the previous rider.

    5. If you miss your release time slot, we will try to accommodate you at the end, but this is not guaranteed.

    6. Drafting is not allowed. You must ride at least 2m behind another racer unless you're overtaking.

    7. Overtaking: The person overtaking will have to maintain atleast 1m horizontal separation from the person being overtaken.

    8. Call out your jersey number to the timekeepers at the finish line.

    9. After finishing, move out of the course.

    10. Timing results will only be announced at the end of the race. Please await those results.

    11. Mechanical failures such as punctures, etc. will require a restart for the racer.

    12. The decision of the Race Marshals will be final and binding on all participants
