POSITION PAPER GUIDELINES

The Iowa High School Model United Nations provides updated guideline information for students on how to write country position papers for the IHSMUN annual spring conference at UNI.

The primary purpose of the position paper is to allow United Nations member nations to state their country’s views and issues on the topics presented in the committees.

Student delegates write these position papers to demonstrate their knowledge of current and historical events of their country, the topics, positions of other countries (both allies and advisories), and justifications for their country’s position.

Included in the guidelines is a rubric for how Position Papers will be graded. It is a good idea to check this in order to qualify for an Outstanding Paper.
