CVVH / CVVHDF

The purpose of this tab is to provide bedside, a series of calculations related to continuous vein-vein hemofiltration (CVVH) or with the continuous vein-vein hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF). Among of them:

1. Dose of convection or diffusion depending on the weight and the volume chosen. The user after entering the patient's weight and the total volume of convection and / or diffusion, obtains the dose of convection and / or diffusion.

2. Volume of convection and / or diffusion depending on the dose and weight introduced. After entering the weight and the dose of convection and / or diffusion chosen, interface shows the total volume of convection and / or diffusion.

3. Calculation of PRE-dilution or post-dilution volumes after selecting the percentage. If you prefer to directly incorporate the volume, ICU RenalCalc® will calculate the percentage.

4. Introducing the speed of the blood pump, the desired negative balance, the basal ultrafiltration coefficient of the selected filter and the transmembrane pressure value displayed in the extracorporeal renal replacement machine, ICU RenalCalc shows the true ultrafiltration coefficient, filter efficiency, theoretical transmembrane pressure that should appear on the monitor when starts the procedure and the filtration fraction. RenalCalc ICU® displays on a red background when filtration fraction exceeds 24% or when the filter efficiency is lower than 10% in order to minimize the risk of clotting of the filter and protect the patient of blood loss.

Usually data entry is shown in white, those boxes that are the result of internal calculations are shown in green background, whereas when these results exceed the normal values are shown in red.

Since data entry can be performed in many ways, background is showed in WHITE when that value has been edited and GREEN when it is the result of an internal calculation.

Screenshots below show some of the aspects above mentioned.

First image (top left) shows data input (white background):

Weight, Hematocrit, convection dose, diffusion dose, pre and post dilution percentages, flow of the blood pump, baseline filter Kuf chosen, real value of the PTM.

Calculated values (green background):

Volume Convection dialysate volume, volume in pre and post dilution, theoretical PTM when patient will be connected to extracorporeal renal replacement machine, real Kuf at any time, filtration fraction and filter efficiency of the filter depending evolution of theoretical and real Kuf.

The selected values of the treatment induces a high filtration fraction (above 24%). That is why it appears on a red background in order to alert the user.

Second image (top center), evidenced the dropdown list to select the desired filter. The value of Kuf is automatically set when is available. If the filter name is not shown on the list can be entered manually if is it known.

Third image (top right). All cells in green. Good efficiency of the filter and filtration fraction.

The "i" button displays a little help understanding the abbreviations used and how to fill each of the fields.
