AGENDA FOR SPRING SPEECH CONTEST
Jan Hargraves, Sgt-at-Arms calls the meeting to order at 7:00 PM
Welcome - Introduction of Bob Hudack, Area G-4 Governor
* Introduction of Dignitaries
* Introduce Jim Peirano to lead us in the pledge and give us an invocation.
Pledge & Invocation – Jim Peirano
* Return control of the contest to Area Governor- Bob Hudack.
Introduction of the Master of Ceremonies (aka. MC or contest Toastmaster), Sherry Kornbloom.
Remind the audience to silence pagers and cell phones.
2-3 min. warm-up.
Introduction of Table Topics Toastmaster, G-1 Area Governor Richard Daugherty.
1-2 min. warm-up
Invite contestants to front, introduce them in speaking order.
Ask Chief Timer, Morgie Peirano, to go over timing.
Ask Chief Judge, Jeff Chess, if the judges are prepared & ready.
Leave the first contestant at front of room & have Sgt. At Arms escort other contestants outside.
State the contestant’s name, then state the question twice. State the contestant’s name again.
Step off to the side of the room leaving contestant alone at front
After the contestant's response, lead the applause and invite him to join the audience.
At the end of each contestant's response, ask the timer & audience for 1 min. of silence, so the judges can mark their ballots.
Repeat until all contestants have responded.
After the last contestant, ask for silence until the judges are done scoring their ballots.
Ask judges to raise ballots when done, so the tellers can obtain them.
Chief Judge Jeffrey Chess will signal you when it’s okay to proceed
Invite contestants to join you at the front (You may conduct a brief interview of each contestant as you give the contestants their participation certificates.)
Thank the contestants & have them return to the audience.
Return control of the contest to MC – Sherry Kornbloom.

Introduction of International Contest Toastmaster, G-2 Area Governor Barry Lynd
1-2 min. warm-up.
Ask International contestants to come up front, then introduce them in speaking order.
Ask Chief Timer, Morgie Peirano, to go over the timing of the contest
Ask Chief Judge, Jeffrey Chess, if judges are briefed & ready.
Leave the first contestant at the front & ask the remaining contestants to return to the audience.
State the contestant’s name. State the speech title twice, then state the contestant’s name again.
Step off to the side of the room leaving the contestant alone at front
After the contestant's response, lead the applause and invite him to join the audience.
At the end of each contestant's presentation, ask the timer & audience for 1 min. of silence, so the judges can mark their ballots.
Repeat until all contestants have completed their speeches.
After the last contestant, ask for silence until the judges are done scoring their ballots.
Ask judges to raise ballots when done, so the tellers can obtain them.
