We have decided on creating bee hives for this math PBL project. We will create a journal which is option 1 and have it under this page. The days are not in order, they are just major ones that were important.
Day 1: We all met up in Mrs. Cakir's room not knowing what to expect because it was the first time we were learning through PBL (project based learning). A lot of thoughts were running through our heads and when we saw what PBL was all about we felt light headed. It seemed like an extremely complicated process requiring a lot of work. We left the class complaining to each other about the toughness of the project.
Day 2: We stopped our nonsense (complaining) and told ourselves that complaining would get us no where. We planned to meet up at one of our group mate's house so we could begin the long process early so that we could get ahead of the class. The first day is usually the hardest day and that is exactly how it felt: difficult. Eventually we completed the first task, or did we?
Day 3: This is the Monday after we worked on the project and when we enter the class proud of ourselves because of our "accomplishment" the teacher explained to us that we did it completely wrong. Our mistake was that instead of putting it on the website we sent her our work through email. When I in particular returned home I lazily copied all the information we wrote and pasted it onto our website.
Day 4: We returned to school the next day to brag to our teacher about how we put everything on the website (not a very hard task). She responded to us by saying that we did not meet the requirements that were associated with the project we were doing. I returned home that day with extra homework which was to fix our mistakes. I deleted everything we worked on before and started fresh. I went to the PBL website, followed the directions and got my groups opinions on what we should add to the website.
Day 5: We finally did something correctly according to our teacher who praised us for being the first to be completed with the first two tasks. We felt accomplished and proud which caused us to laze off and stop working for a while because of the compliment we received. The only issue was that we forgot about everything else that was important, there was more work and more tasks that needed to be completed.
Day 6: We met over at one of our group mate's houses again, however one of us could not make it because that certain individual could not make it that day. We did a little bit of work to eventually get stuck and not be able to complete anything else. We quit that day and decided to wait until Monday to resume working on the project after asking our teacher for help.
Day 7: Our teacher told us what to do next which was to print out or draw geometric nets and to put them together. We put twenty together each and brought it all to school on Friday to put it on a board and combine all of our items together. We pasted it on boards and decided to come on Saturday to complete the online portion of the project.
Day 8: We came to school to check on the project and complete the online portion which is what we are doing right now (typing about ourselves typing). We made sure our project is OK and now we are doing this task and lots of others as well. We are finally getting somewhere with this project.
Day 9: We just figured out that all of the hard work we did was incorrect because of our laziness to read the instructions before we did the project. We got extremely scared and just began to work as fast as we could so we could catch up, however the slow turtle wins the race. Unfortunately we made the wrong mistake, causing us not to be the winners.
Day 10: We are really stressing out now because we have only less days left to complete this semester's portion of the PBL. Our understanding teacher however helped by contributing some store brought materials found in our school so we would not have to cut and fold again. Even though we found some they were not exactly what we needed. We went home and folded shapes: way less this time and finished. This time they were still wrong because paper does not always fold up perfectly.
Day 11: We are still hustling and eventually find the shapes we need. As soon as possible we took pictures and split up the project. One made the brochure, the other made the script, and I (in particular) began to make the video and set it up. Later all we would have to do is place our voice in the video and upload it to YouTube.
