Viking Rag
By Hoskuld Gunnarsson (To the tune: Salty Dog Rag)
Loki pulled a fast one, made a ship out of nails
And gathered up some fighters, put the wind in their sail
And sailed right up to Asgard the Aesir to impale
Now everybody's fighting in the Viking Rag!
Chorus:
The Clash of swords, our foes we meet
In rhythm with that war drum beat
Won’t you join us in the battle, raise the raven flag
Cuz' everybody's fighting in the Viking Rag.
Odin rides from Valhal the great wolf he must face
But Fenrir hasn’t eaten since they bound him in place
And Odin’s kinda chewy and he’s got a nice taste
That’s one less God that’s fightin’ in the Viking Rag
Chorus
Jormungander slithers right up out of the sea
And Thor has set to making him some serpent debris
But not before the worm subdues him venomously
Another God’s done fightin’ in the Viking Rag.
Chorus
Frey gave up his longsword for to fetch him ol’ Gerd
And only had a stag horn to defend against Surt
Now all that’s left is charcoal that’s a little too burnt
That’s why everybody’s fighting in the Viking Rag.
Chorus
The fire’s done its damage and the world is gone
But in the morning Midgard rises to a new dawn
And in the end the children of the Aesir have won
Cuz’ everybody joined in at the Viking Rag!
