Swayze Mill is a Township-owned and maintained park open to Hope Township residents. There is something for everyone - whether you’re into sports, fishing, canoeing, fitness or just out for a walk. If you use the park regularly ... Great! Keep coming and tell your neighbors. If you haven’t really gotten to know the park yet, come out, take a walk or just sit and enjoy one of our Township’s greatest natural treasures.
This property, formerly a quarry used by RH Materials, was purchased on July 6, 1990 by Hope Township. The Township Committee, at that time, decided to use the property as a park for township residents and proceeded to create and maintain a walking path around the lake. Eventually, 6 fitness stations and wildlife placards were added along the path. Baseball and soccer fields, as well as a basketball court and fieldhouse, were added to the front section of the park, so that the lake area could remain as natural as possible.
Over the years, improvements to the park have been made by Township Committees, booster clubs, scout\ groups and various Township organizations. In the early 2000s, Eagle Scout Daniel Smith constructed and installed bluebird houses, which still stand today. In 2022, Eagle Scout Ryan Marotta constructed a dock for residents to utilize in putting canoes and kayaks into the lake.
Additionally, benches have been added, a gazebo built, trees planted in honor of loved ones, invasive plant material removed and seedlings and native material planted and cared for by our Environmental Commission.
Each station presents instructions designed to meet any varied levels of fitness.
Any individual, business, group, organization or team can adopt one of the exercise stations. The goal is to keep the station weed-free during the spring and summer. Volunteer to help the Environmental Commission in planting and maintaining the seedlings and native plant material.

If your children are involved in sports, you can sign up to volunteer in the fieldhouse or walk around the lake, adopt a fitness station and pull some weeds while your child is at practice.
Or, just take a walk around the lake. It’s good for your head, it’s good for your heart, it’s good for your health.
