The Electric Vehicle team at DEP joined “Go Green with Hope” to chat about the benefits of EVs, provided our signature DriveGreen goodies, and answered all your EV questions!
Now is a great time to think about switching to an electric vehicle. With more than 100 models on the market from every major automaker, almost 2.5 million Americans are driving electric. There’s an EV for everyone: SUVs, crossovers, sportscars, sedans, luxury cars, minivans… and electric pickup trucks are coming soon! You can get a fully electric car that runs on 100% electricity, or a plug-in hybrid that runs on electricity and switches over to gasoline when the battery is low.
Whether you care about performance, affordability, convenience, clean air or the climate, an electric car may be just what you’re looking for.
• Learn about all the incentives available for driving electric: https://nj.gov/dep/drivegreen/dg-electric-vehicles-affordability.html
• Follow DEP’s Bureau of Mobile Sources on Instagram for EV updates and more: https://www.instagram.com/drivecleannj/
If you’re not ready to make the switch to an EV but still want to make a positive impact on your local air quality while driving a gasoline car… then come say hi to our “WaitClean” staff! Our WaitClean table will be chock full of fun giveaways, educational materials, and enthusiastic DEP employees who are ready to chat about:
Clean Driving

Did you know that we are building another observatory?
One of our volunteers, Alan Midkiff, donated a 25" telescope to United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey in 2018 and after many months of preparation, including consultations with engineers and architects, soliciting bids for the construction, and hiring a contractor, we are ready to break ground on a 16' x 16' observatory to house this JMI Newtonian reflecting telescope.
Our previous fundraising for this project more than covered these preliminary steps, but more funds are needed to see this project through to completion. A generous donor has pledged to match the next $5000 raised for the Midkiff Observatory. If we meet this goal, UACNJ will be able to cover the rest of the project with funds on hand.
You may send your donation to UACNJ at P.O. Box 150, Hope, NJ 07844 (make checks payable to UACNJ please) or donate using PayPal or a credit card at www.uacnj.org. We hope to begin construction next month, so please make your donation by April 30th to ensure that your dollars are doubled; the donor’s match ends May 1st.
All donations to UACNJ are tax deductible and all donors will receive a receipt for income tax purposes. Donors will be recognized on a plaque in the new observatory when it is complete.
Thank you for supporting UACNJ! If you have any questions about this project or United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey, please write to info@uacnj.org.

Warren County Mosquito Control Commission
The easiest way to eliminate mosquitoes is to get rid of standing water around your home.
Check your yards for anything that holds water. Dump water from containers, such as buckets, kiddie pools, and plant saucers. Drain standing water from tarps and pool covers. Recycle tires and other containers properly. Bird baths and pet dishes should be scrubbed weekly to eliminate mosquito eggs.
Defend yourself from mosquito bites by wearing repellents and securing window and door screens. Check the Centers of Disease Control website https://www.cdc.gov/zika/prevention/prevent-mosquito-bites.html for information about EPA approved repellents. For more information please contact the Warren County Mosquito Control Commission at www.warrencountymosquito.org or call 908-453-3585.
