Syllabus

Poisons is a one-term class. There are five lessons, each with a homework and extra credit assignment. All assignments are worth 30 points. The maximum number of points you can earn from this class is 300 points. This class is part of HOL, so all HOL rules apply.

Please keep in mind that you must consult your doctor, pharmacist, nurse, or other trusted health care professional before taking anything that might effect your overall health. In case of a poison emergency, know your local poison center hotline number.

Course Outline

Lesson 1 - Killer Creatures

Lesson 2 - Around the House

Lesson 3 - Noxious Gases, Lethal Metals

Lesson 4 - Plant Poisoning

Lesson 5 - Malicious Mushrooms

Assignments

For each of the 5 assignments, you can earn 60 points. The first 30 points will be submitted as homework and the second 30 points will be submitted as extra credit.

I have renamed your typical assignment options:

Pick a Poison = Multiple Choice

Toxic or Not = True or False

Detox = Unscramble

Parseltongue = Harry Potter Universe

Poison Study = Research and/or Artwork

Passing and Quills

You must earn at least 150 points to pass this class and earn a quill. Since this is HOL, I will also require that you answer least ONE of the Parseltongue (Harry Potter Universe) questions to earn a quill.

Deadlines and Extensions

All assignments are due on the last day of the term, at 11:59 pm HOL time.  Extensions are not necessary, as you have up until the last day to submit and after that, I am unable to accept assignments. I do however recommend that you try to send in one assignment in monthly, to keep from falling behind.  

Awards

Poison Mushroom - Impress me and you will get a poison mushroom!

Poison Ivy - Those who show they can spread, grow, and climb as easily as ivy will receive this award. In other words, students who make an attempt at all THREE hundred (300) points.
