Walden-Parke Trails

The Walden-Parke Preserve trails are located in Orono/Bangor and are part of a larger set of public access lands managed by the Bangor Land Trust.

How to get there from Orono, ME

Approximately 15 minutes drive.

Drive out Forest Avenue (crossing Stillwater Avenue) until you reach Essex Street. Go left and take Essex Street to Walden Parke Way (on the left) at the entrance of the Edgewood Subdivision. Turn right onto Tamarack Trail and park at the end of the pavement where you will see a BLT kiosk.

Hiking conditions:

The trail starts out very wide, and almost immediately crosses the (under construction) Tamarack Trail (street) extension. Continue on and eventually the trail gets more narrow and rises out of the wetland area to a forested rise. There are several loops and side trails to explore, and you can connect with the Bangor City Forest Trails or the old Veazie Railroad Bed. Signage is minimal, so plan accordingly.

Nearby attractions:

The adjacent Bangor City Forest offers a nice series of well-marked trails and encompasses the Orono Bog Boardwalk.
