ISRAEL
Israel has arguably the best CS education system in the world. The system was implemented in 1998 and blends conceptual and applied topics. Computer Science classes are offered in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. The schools offer two different tracks for students. One track is for people with limited interest and the other is for those with higher interest. Both tracks are similar in the beginning with a strong focus on algorithms. The limited interest track is 3 courses where as the higher interest track is 5 classes. At the end of high school there is a matriculation exam for CS. This exam helps set the standards for CS.
Israel also have a Computer Science teaching license and it is required to teach computer science. In order to get the license teachers must go through some kind of computer science teacher training either in college or after college.
NEW ZEALAND
In February 2011 computer science became a formal topic in the national standards for education in New Zealand. The implementation of New Zealand's computer science curriculum was not planned out. Instead the curriculum was added in and issues were dealt with as they happend. Of the teachers teaching Computer Science only 11% had actual qualifications to be teaching Computer Science. To help with this New Zealand created a teacher support group. They also created professional development for teachers and found that the professional development really helps with teachers confidence levels. The system for teaching Computer Science is a 3 level system and teachers are given a lot of flexibility with teaching it.
