The Interrail was created in 1972 as a form of rail pass with reduced prices and with great flexibility, the routes would be anywhere in Europe as long as it has a train station. The Interrail over time gained fans especially among young Europeans that wanted to known Europe. The rail passes allow users to travel on free transit train (2nd category) for a several number of countries and still offering substantial discounts on some sea crossings in countries like Italy and Greece. Be aware that the ticket does not include the cost of any supplements, reservation of seats and couchette reservations. A supplement is an additional fee to travel in fast trains or trains passing across great distances.On the price of the pass, it is beneficial for those with less than 26 years and travel in groups is quite usual. • 1972: The program started, limited to travel between 21 years or younger. It covered 21 countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, West Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Yugoslavia.
• 1976: the age limit for the passage was changed to 23 years, and in 1979 was changed again to 26 years.
• 1982: requirement of six months residency requirement was introduced.
• 1985: Certain ferry services were included.
• 1991: End of the Soviet Union led to the expansion of space Interrail.
• 1994: 29 of the 30 countries are included (except Bosnia-Herzegovina); Space Interrail has seven zones.
• 1998: Tickets for the Interrail became available to all ages, with the price differences based on age. The current system of eight zones is established.
• 2005: Bosnia and Herzegovina joins space Interrail.
