Control Panel -> Course Tools -> Announcements
Click [Create Announcement]
Add a Subject
Type in the Message
You must click Not Date Restricted. (unless you want to restrict the display dates.)
Options:
Email Announcement - Check it to send a copy of the announcement immediately
Course Link - Browse for the item or area of the class site where you want a link to go
Click [Submit]
1. Find the bar that says:
New announcements appear below this line ---------------------
The announcement you just created should be the first item below this line (because it's the most recent)
2. Click on the announcement you just created
An up/down arrow will appear on the left side of the announcement
3. Click and drag the up/down arrow to a space above the bar.
Note: Be cautious about having too many or extremely long permanent announcements. Students may not remember to scroll down below a lot of permanent announcements to see the most current ones.
If you Course Copy material from one semester or course section to another, you may have mistakenly copied the announcements, too.
To permanently delete the old announcements, go to Announcements through either the Tools area in the main part of the menu or through Control Panel -> Course Tools -> Announcements.
Click on the dropdown to the left of the title of the announcement you want to delete and choose Delete.
To avoid the problem in the future, when you use the Course Copy tool, do not check Announcements in the list of items to copy.
