Coach Reed is a marine scientist with a stubborn Olympic-style weightlifting habit.  His coaching focuses on strong fundamentals he learned from his coaches, Steve Gough,  Mike Karchut, Mike Burgener, and Tommy Kono.  Coach Reed’s goal is to teach a solid foundation in Olympic weightlifting to help athletes of all ages and levels develop to their highest potential.  Coach Reed has taught Olympic weightlifting clinics to a variety of audiences in the western US, Hawaii, and in the Marshall Islands.  He has been instructing weightlifting and organizing sanctioned USAW meets in Missoula, MT, since 2005.   Contact Coach Clay Reed for information about individual and group coaching or nutritional counseling at heavyh2o at gmail.com

Coaching experience includes the U.S. Collegiate Weightlifting Championships, Oceania and Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships (2012 Continental Olympic Qualifying Meet), the U.S. National Weightlifting Championships, American Open Weightlifting Championships, and World Weightlifting Championships among others. 

Taught and coached Olympic-style weightlifting at the University of Montana.

He has won national and international competitions as a masters lifter.
