ACWW
The WI supports the ACWW (The Asscoiated Country Women of the World)
ACWW actively supports a whole range of development programmes in rural communities through its Projects and Trust Funds: Leadership and skill training, nutrition/ education projects, literacy and basic education programmes (including family planning and HIV/AIDS awareness), small business initiatives and small-scale agricultural, income-generating schemes.
The members of ACWW, Associated Country Women of the World, who live in rural and urban areas, representatives of many races, nationalities and creeds, believe that peace and progress can best be advanced by friendship and understanding through communication and working together to improve the quality of life for all people through:
• relief of poverty
• relief of sickness and the protection
• and preservation of health
• advancement of education

Chorley Women's Refuge.
The money raised at the 2012 WI Stall at Rivington Festival is to be donated to the Chorley Women's Refuge
Friends For You Chorley is a befriending service which began in August 2016. It has grown from its small beginnings in Chorley East Ward and now visits across Chorley, Charnock Richard, Adlington, Whittle-le-Woods, Clayton -le -Woods and Leyland. The only funds we have are from grants or donations without which we couldn’t function so thank you very much for your donation of £100.00.
We started with five volunteers and eight people to visit we now have 48 Volunteers and Visit 59 people in their own homes, we take everyone out for afternoon tea or lunch 2 or 3 times a year. We also have a pre-Christmas meal in November, everybody really enjoys these occasions and for many it is the only time they get out. We have two ladies who are completely house bound and we take afternoon tea to them.
All our volunteers are DBS checked and fully trained in Safe Guarding, Dementia Awareness and First Aid before we match them up with a lonely person. We hold regular Sharing the Caring meetings where the volunteers can talk about their visits and feel supported by one another and their Team Leader.
