A very warm welcome from Heath Charnock and District WI.
Heath Charnock WI is part of the Anglezarke Group of Women's Institutes.
The other WIs in the group are White Coppice, Belmont and Tockholes.
Our local HQ is LFWI (Lancashire Federation of Women's Institutes).
The LFWI headquarters is based at the WI Office in Leyland. Mary Gibson is Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The Board is made up of members who are responsible for the overall Federation Policy and plan of work which is carried out through its appointed sub-committees. Further information on the LFWI can be found at www.thewi.org.uk
The LFWI is part of The WI(National Federation of Women's Institutes.
The WI is the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK. It plays a unique role in enabling women to develop new skills and gives them opportunities to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
The Women’s Institute was formed in 1915 with two clear aims: to revitalise rural communities and to encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then our aims have broadened and we are now the largest women’s organisation in the UK. We celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2015 and currently have 205,000 members in over 6,500 WIs.
Heath Charnock WI was founded in 1937
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month (except July) at The United Reformed Church on Railway Rd, Adlington,
We are very happy to welcome visitors and new members. At our meeting we have varied and knowledgable speakers, demonstrations or entertainment. Something for everyone to enjoy.
Tea/coffee is served after the meeting, with cakes and biscuits (many homemade), presented by the tea hostesses for each month. This gives members and guests time to catch up with WI friends and enjoy each others company.
We have a Book Club. A Craft club and a Walking Group. There are regular visits to the theatre. Days out. Craft workshops.
We also get involved in local events.
Annual membership is £43
