On Thursday March  12, at 6:00 p.m., JB Friday will give a presentation on "American Samoa!"

JB Friday will speak about his recent trip to "American Samoa! He shares, "American Sa,pa is the only American-affiliated island in the South Pacific and has been a U.S. territory since 1900. The main island of Tutuila is a rugged, green landscape of steep slopes and deep harbors. Most people living in American Samoa are Samoans and the Island runs on Faʻa Samoa, Samoan Culture."

The meeting will be a hybrid one (in person and online via zoom). The in-person meeting will be at the Komohana Research & Extension Center (875 Komohana St., Hilo), in the conference room D-202: second floor, building closest to the parking lot. The March 2026 photo CHALLENGE theme is "Flora (a.k.a. Plants)!"  

 Rules and Regs for this CHALLENGE: 

1.  You can submit up to 5 images taken in the past year with a theme of "Flora (a.k.a. Plants)!" 

2. They cannot have won previous contests or been exhibited;

3. Images should be jpg files with a maximum of 1600 pixels in the longest dimension;

4. Titles will be file names; and

5. You can bring your images to the meeting on Thursday March 12 on a thumb drive or you can email it to Susan by Wednesday March 11 at hawaiiphotoshooters@gmail.com.  

What is a Challenge?

The purpose of a Photo Challenge is to share what we do, explain how we do it, and get to view others' works, ideas, and creativity without having to decide "which is best" or "which is most favored."  Each member will have one image of his/her choice uploaded to the club's website.
