Sri Sathya Poorna Teertharu

By Dr. B. Basker in Dwaita parimala Magazine

This saint was one the pontiff of Uttaradhi Matha. He is famous for this tapas and vairagaya. When he had gone to Kashi, he offered a couple of gold bracelets to Goddess Ganga, who appeared in a beautiful radiant human form and accepted the jewels and disappeared into the river.

Once while the saint was about to ascend the Tirumala due to his old age He was not able to lift the Swami pettige throughout and hence requested one of His shishyas to help Him to just assist Him in holding the box.

But he put forth 2 conditions:

The person should be observing Dina traya vratha. (One meal on Dashami thithi, complete fasting on Ekadashi thithi, except Paarana, nothing on Dwadashi)

He should have observed stricted Brahmacharya and should continue to do so.

One effulgent Brahmachari stepped in front agreeing to fulfill the above conditions. He later on ascended the peetha as Sri Satya Priya Teertharu.

Sri Sathya Poorna Teertharu entered Brindavan at Kolpur on Jyeshta Krishna Dwithiya.
