Dartmouth College Is My Obsession

I was a farm kid in the middle of Iowa and Dartmouth came looking for me. The football coach was conducting a massive recruiting effort across the whole country and was looking for academically qualified players. Thus began four years of undergraduate college, two years of graduate school, and 60 years of alumni involvement.

My deep alumni involvement involved what I believe is a fundamental aspect of volunteer activities; I was asked. When the District Enrollment Director left town, he asked me to succeed him in St. Louis. Thus began my career in interviewing that has continued even through the Pandemic of 2020, as well as my progression through the offices of the St. Louis Alumni Club.

I later agreed to be the class webmaster about 15 years ago in response to the classmate who wanted to quit. Responsibilities just seemed to accumulate including Newsletter Publishing, being Necrologist, Co-Head Agent and now Chief Zoom Master.

My class efforts have become almost a retirement occupation. I’ve received some recognition from my class and the college but the real reward has been drawing close to many classmates and receiving their appreciation for my efforts
