Welcome!
I hold an MA (2011) and a PhD in Applied Linguistics (2015) from the University of Barcelona. My doctoral research examined the nature of L2 phonological awareness and its relationship to L2 pronunciation . More detailed information on my PhD research can be found at the section PhD.
My main research interests are L2 speech acquisition and cognitive- and psycholinguistics applied to SLA. I am especially fascinated by the role of phonological awareness in L2 speech acquisition. You can find more information about phonological awareness here. I am also interested in bi- and multilingualism, pronunciation teaching, naturalistic L2 acquisition and individual differences in SLA. The inter-phonologies I am especially interested in are Portuguese-English, Spanish-English, Catalan-English and Portuguese-Spanish.
I administered the courses "English Language I" and "English Phonetics and Phonology I" at the University of Barcelona in 2011-2012. I also participated as a research assistant in the compilation of Spanish and Catalan prosodic corpus, Glissando, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and at the Pompeu Fabra University (2011-2012). Currently I am an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Florianópolis, Brazil. In 2021, I'm conducting research at the University of Turku in Finland as a visiting researcher. You can find more information on my academic employment history under CV.
I form part of the Barcelona L2 Speech Research group at the University of Barcelona. In Brazil, I'm a member of Núcleo de Pesquisa em Fonética e Fonologia Aplicada à Língua Estrangeira (NUPFFALE) and Laboratório de Fonética Aplicada (FONAPLI).
My work has been published in international journals and conferences. All the proceedings papers and oral presentation are available under Publications.
